Last Leaf Standing. I've wanted to make this  for a long time: a tribute to Minecraft 1.8 PvP (the sword-blocking, w-tapping, rod-pulling combat I grew up on) turned into a small standalone arena game. Press PLAY and you're in a public room with whoever else is online. Bots fill the empty spots, so a match is always ready.

How it plays

  • 2.5D side view: real 3D, camera locked to the side, aim with the mouse.
  • Sword: click to swing, with no attack cooldown and short hit immunity like 1.8. Hold right-click to block. Hit while sprinting for extra knockback, then release and re-press the direction key (w-tap) to sprint-hit again. Chain hits for combo knockback. Hitting while falling is a crit.
  • Fishing rod: press 2 (or F) and cast it. If it hits a player it yanks them toward you, so you can pull someone off a ledge. Hook the terrain and click again to grapple across gaps or back up from the void.
  • The floor falls: tiles crack, then drop. The more hurt you are, the farther you fly, so edges matter.
  • Golden leaves give a short speed and knockback boost.
  • Last one standing wins, and rounds loop automatically.

Online rooms and bots

Rooms are public. Maple Mesa holds 8 players and Pumpkin Ridge holds 14. Empty slots are filled with bots (tagged BOT), and new players swap in for a bot at the next round. There is room chat (press Enter); it is unfiltered and links are allowed. If the host leaves, someone else in the room takes over automatically. Prefer solo? Pick Offline on the menu.

Controls

WASD / arrows move, Space jump, Shift sprint, LMB swing, RMB block, 1/2 or F swap sword/rod, Enter chat, Tab scoreboard, M mute, Esc menu. Desktop browser recommended (keyboard and mouse).

Theme: FALL (all three at once)

  • Season: an autumn arena with falling leaves, pumpkins and a golden-hour sun.
  • Action: the floor cracks and falls away, and you win by knocking people into the void.
  • Idea: every round ends with someone's fall.

AI use disclosure

This game was made with heavy AI assistance (Claude by Anthropic), which the jam allows.

  • Idea and direction: me (a Minecraft 1.8 PvP game with sword blocking, a fishing rod, public rooms with bots and chat, side-view 2.5D). Claude helped brainstorm how to fit the FALL theme.
  • Code: written by Claude from my design (game logic, bot AI, Three.js renderer, online rooms, UI, audio) and tested together.
  • Art: no imported assets. All visuals are generated in code (pixel textures drawn with canvas, blocky models built from boxes).
  • Sound: all sound effects are synthesized in code with WebAudio.
  • Libraries and services: JavaScript, Three.js (MIT license), and Firebase for online rooms and chat.

Not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft. "Minecraft" is their trademark; this is an original game inspired by 1.8-era PvP mechanics, with no assets from it.

I would love feedback from you guys, if you played the game please take some time to leave a comment. I'm still a small developer and need feedback for how to make better games.
